Rejiji Wines was established 2012 by Reijo Itkonen (FIN) and his Hungarian wife Judit. Reijo’s retirement from his long business life made it possible to concentrate on their love of wines and their deep enthusiasm in particular for Hungarian wines
They acquired two vineyards in the Villány region, one from the Kopár and one from the Tenkes, Harkány. With these vineyards the present wine making capacity is around 7000-8000 bottles a year in a premium category.
In 2016, Rejiji Wines switched to organic wine growing. “We had such a challenging year and many other winemakers faced a lot of difficulties, but our grapes were luckily very good. That year proved to us that organic is really possible and pays out in the end.” said Reijo.
Since the Tenkes soil proved to be excellent, they acquired three smaller vineyards between 2016-2017 also from this region. These new vineyards will be replanted and integrated to the main Tenkes vineyard.
