About us
founding
Rejiji Wines was established in 2012 by a Finnish-Hungarian couple, Reijo Itkonen and Judit Pap.
As long time wine enthusiasts, retirement presented the opportunity to pursue their passion as winemakers. With a particular love for Hungarian wines, they acquired two vineyards in the Villány Region, one from the Kopár and one from the Tenkes, Harkány.
With the Tenkes soils proving especially beneficial for premium wines, they acquired three additional vineyards from this area in 2016-2017, which were replanted and integrated into the Tenkes vineyard.
The current wine capacity is around 10,000 bottles a year in the premium category, with the vineyards and wine selection continuously growing year by year.
Rejiji Wines is exporting part of their wines abroad, especially to Finland, where their wines can be found at several top restaurants in Helsinki.
organic wines
In 2016, Rejiji Wines transitioned to organic wine growing.
“It was a challenging year but while many other winemakers faced difficulties, our grapes were healthy and thriving. It proved to us that organic winemaking is the future and is a great investment in the long term.” - Reijo Itkonen
philosophy
“We love nature, healthy food and great quality. It’s therefore only natural that as winemakers we are fully motivated by these same values. We always strive for high quality while protecting nature with clean and sustainable production. We also hold ourselves to high morals and integrity.”
