About us

founding

Founded in 2012 by Finnish-Hungarian couple Reijo Itkonen and Judit Pap, Rejiji Wines was born from a shared passion for wine. Longtime enthusiasts, Reijo and Judit saw retirement as the perfect opportunity to pursue winemaking. With a particular love for Hungarian wines, they acquired two vineyards in the Villány Region, one from the Kopár and one from the Tenkes, Harkány.

The unique soil of the Tenkes vineyard proved ideal for producing premium-quality wines, inspiring the couple to expand their holdings. Between 2016 and 2017, they acquired and replanted three additional vineyards in the area, later integrating them into the growing Tenkes estate.

Today, Rejiji Wines produces approximately 10,000 bottles per year, all in the premium category, with both vineyard area and wine selection expanding year after year.

A portion of their wines is exported, especially to Finland, where Rejiji wines can be found in several top-tier Helsinki restaurants.

organic wines

In 2016, Rejiji Wines made the full transition to organic winemaking.

“It was a challenging year, but while many winemakers struggled, our grapes remained healthy and strong. That experience convinced us that organic winemaking is not only the future—it’s a valuable, long-term investment.” — Reijo Itkonen

philosophy

“We love nature, healthy food, and exceptional quality. As winemakers, it's only natural that these same values guide everything we do. We are committed to producing wines of the highest quality while protecting nature through clean, sustainable practices—and we hold ourselves to the highest standards of integrity.”
